Dr. Mischley’s work is focused on identifying nutritional requirements unique to individuals with neurodegenerative diseases. She has conducted research on coenzyme Q10, lithium, and glutathione (GSH) deficiency in Parkinson’s Disease (PD). As a clinical trialist, she is attempting to determine whether intranasal GSH boosts brain GSH and improves PD outcomes over time. She is currently co-PI on a study of muscle metabolism is PD at the University of Washington Department of Radiology. She developed the PRO-PD rating scale (www.PROPD.org) and is developing a PD screening tool, ParK-9, using dogs to identify the scent of PD from ear wax. She is principal investigator of the “CAM Care in PD” study, designed to identify the relationship between lifestyle choices and risk of PD progression. She has published on the role of diet, exercise, nutritional supplements, and social health as they relate to PD severity and progression. She is the lead instructor for the online course, "PD School" (PD-school.teachable.com). As a naturopathic physician, she maintains a clinical practice at Seattle Integrative Medicine.
