Jennifer Bahr, ND is a licensed naturopathic doctor in San Diego, California. She received her doctor of naturopathic medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. Having chosen this path specifically to find alternatives or natural support for mental health conditions, Dr. Bahr tirelessly sought out opportunities to learn both the best natural and conventional treatment. In this effort she found that homeopathy is by far the most effective way to treat serious mental illness and has dedicated her practice to using this powerful medicine. She has studied with some of the most renowned homeopaths in North America, and is the first person to be selected for a naturopathic mental health focused residency, a role that she currently holds.

Contrary to popular belief, naturopathic and conventional care are not an either or option, and Dr. Bahr believes in the safe and careful use of conventional medications when necessary. She is one of only a few naturopathic doctors to have completed a rotation with a psychiatrist at an in-patient crisis recovery unit, learning in detail how to safely prescribe these meds in a time of crisis. Dr. Bahr does not prescribe any medications, however, preferring to work with a managing psychiatrist.

Dr. Bahr’s practice focuses primarily on mood disorders and child/adolescent mental and behavioral health. Her strengths in her treatment approach lie in her honesty, empathy, and persistence to understand every person as a whole, and find the specific treatments that will stimulate their body to heal. No two people experiences an illness exactly the same, and therefore should not receive the same treatment based solely on diagnosis.

Dr. Bahr is also adjunct faculty at Bastyr University California. She teaches endocrinology and diet and nutrition for mental health and the nervous system.
